How to Configure Remote Connection to Machine Outside of the Network and Without VPN using Internet Session thru the Dameware Centralized With Dameware Internet Proxy

The Dameware Remote Support Centralized (DRSC) license has a feature called Internet Session. It uses Dameware Central Server and Dameware Internet Proxy to host a remote connection to a remote machine outside the company network and without a VPN.

To configure this feature, you will need to provide the following requirements:

• Server for your Dameware Server and Internet Proxy
  • Dameware 12.3 centralized installation system requirements
• Configure Port Requirements
  • Ports Required for Dameware
• Internet Session URL available to the organization
  • Example: https://company.com/

***For customer that has Dameware Mini Remote Control Centralized only license, this is not applicable***

Dameware Remote Support & Mini Remote Control

1. Identify Which Server Deployment To Use:

Ref: Determine which Dameware Central Server deployment option to use
Dameware OTI session can be deployed as One-Server Deployment wherein both Dameware Admin Console and Dameware Internet Proxy Module are installed in the same server or 2-Server Deployment  wherein Dameware Admin Console is installed on the same network as the Dameware Remote Suuport/Dameware Mini Remote Control while the Dameware Internet Proxy Module is installed in DMZ.

• One-Server Deployment
• Two-Server Deployment

 

2. Install Dameware Remote Support in Centralized Mode

Download the Dameware Remote Support (DRS) installer from the SolarWinds Customer Portal and install it in Centralized Mode.

If standalone Dameware Remote Support has been installed beforehand, you can switch to Centralized in order to connect to the Dameware Server.

**Installing DRS will also install the DMRC, and to use this feature, you need to use the DMRC inside the DRS (C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Dameware Remote Support\DWRCC.exe).
This feature is not available for DMRC only.
 

3. Deploy an Agent or Start Internet Session

To remote to the machines, the remote machine must have an agent.

For temporary remote sessions in which no agent installation is required, please use the Invite a remote host to an attended session in Dameware
In this session, a link will be created in which should be shared with the user of the remote machine.
The user will access the link, download and run the executable version of the agent which will allow remote session.
This required the user to accept the remote session first.

For more permanent remote sessions which you can opt to allow remote session even without user approval, please use the Invite a remote host to an unattended session in Dameware .
Unlike a temporary executable file, this required installation/deployment on the remote machine prior to the remote session.

It is also possible to create a customized MSI to be deployed to your environment via deploying tool like GPO etc.
