Size of WPM Player window when playing transactions is smaller than the size of the WPM Recorder window

In WPM 2.2.3 and earlier, WPM screenshots are smaller than the size of the WPM Recorder window.

Overview

When playing back WPM transactions in WPM 2.2.3 and earlier,, the size of the WPM Player window is smaller than the WPM Recorder window where the steps were recorded.

Cause

Transactions created in WPM 2.2.3 and earlier don’t store the size of the WPM Recorder window when steps were initially recorded, even if you enlarge the WPM Recorder window before creating a recording. The WPM Player uses a default window size during playback.

Resolution

To resolve this issue for standard web applications, upgrade to WPM 3.0 or later.
To resolve this issue for responsive design web applications that adapt to different layouts (computer, mobile phone, tablet), upgrade to WPM 3.0 or later and refer to Record transactions for responsive design web applications in WPM 3.0.  

To work around this issue in WPM 2.2.3 or earlier, start recording and enable XY, Capture Mode briefly before disabling it. Then create your recording as you normally would and WPM will remember the screen size.

  1. Resize the WPM Recorder window to the desired size.
  2. Click Record to start capturing steps.
  3. Enter about:blank in the address bar and click OK to navigate to a blank page.
  4. Click X,Y Capture Mode to enable it. 
  5. Click anywhere in the top left corner of the WPM Recorder window.
  6. Click X,Y Capture Mode again to disable it.
  7. Enter the URL where you want to record steps and click OK.
  8. Create your recording.
