Overview
The nodes are down only from the Orion Platform server's perspective. The Orion Platform evaluates a node status using the Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP). If ICMP communication is not enabled from the Orion Platform server to the node, the server evaluates the node as down. Also, this can occur if there is a network communication outage between the polling engine and the node, or the IP address is wrong.
Product section
Cause
- ICMP or SNMP blocked between Polling Engine and the Target Node
- Node status must set to unmanage.
Resolution
- Try to re-manage node and allow Orion Web Console 10 minutes to poll. After ten minutes, the nodes' status should now be correctly displayed
- Contact your network administrator to enable ICMP (or SNMP) from the Orion Platform server to the monitored node, resolve the network issue, or correct the IP address.
- Check any firewall rule that may cause the issue.
