Offline Installation or Upgrade using SolarWinds Platform Offline Installer

Use the SolarWinds Offline Installer (.iso) to upgrade Pollers and Scalability Engines manually should the Centralized Upgrade option will not complete.

Overview

Upgrading a SolarWinds Platform has been made easy using the Centralized Upgrade. However, there are instances wherein this option fails (mostly environmental reasons). If this happens, the upgrade can be done manually using the Offline Installer.

Orion Platform

Cause

  • Offline environment
  • Centralized deployment is not working or failing

Resolution

  1. Download the ISO file (offline installer) for the latest version. You can download it from the customer portal download page. Use a different PC to download the installer and move it to the Orion server.

    • Make sure to select the latest dated ISO file.
  2. Unblock the offline installer before running it on the Orion server. This will ensure that all files will be installed. Unblock Installation File
  3. Run the Orion installer using a local account with admin rights. If you are using a domain/windows account with admin privileges, please make sure that the said account is not restricted with GPO and is a member of the local Administrators of the server.
NOTE: If you have an Additional Polling Engine, you will need to use the same installer and do the above steps to upgrade them.
