"Unable to save mirror" message when NCM Backup Job fail or stuck on Post Processing State

This article provides troubleshooting steps when you have an issue with the Job downloading configuration and have an error reported with devices.

Overview

When backup jobs are stuck or failing, the following error message may appear in C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Logs\Orion\NCM\NcmBusinessLayerPlugin: 

ERROR SolarWinds.Cirrus.BusinessLayer.DAL.MirrorConfigCopy - Unable to save mirror copy.System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'file_path' is denied.

Cause

This issue occurs due to Incorrect permissions for the Config Archive shared folder, or configuration parsing is enabled.

Resolution

Solution 1

  • Disable the Config Archive and then run the NCM Job again and verify the issue
  • Configure proper permission on the config archive folder (Follow the exact same permissions settings on the Config Archive folder )
  • Clear the Config Archive folder (Move all the files from this folder)
  • Check the disk space on the Config Archive folder
  • Make sure the Domain User mentioned in the Log file does have permissions to the Server

  • Clear the 'Windows\Temp' files

Solution 3 

NOTE: (For DPE Error)

  • Restart Orion Services on the poller(s) that show the transient error in the DPE.BusinessLayer.log

  • Re-create the job from scratch

  • Please disable parsing config in Advanced Settings:
    /Orion/Admin/AdvancedConfiguration/Global.aspx

  • Clear the database table DPE_DataProcessorQueue
