Overview

Cause
Any of the following can cause the issue:
- NPM typically monitors via ICMP, SNMP and WMI.
- It is not able to provide Array specific information.
- NPM List Resources is discovering OIDs that are already coded into the application.
-
Storage Arrays are typically monitored via SMIS to get array specific information.
Resolution
Another module is required for information on array on NPM - SRM.
The following are different workarounds:
- Using Universal Device Poller, you can poll some information that is exposed and available via the SNMP Agent on the Storage Array.
- To know which OIDs will hold the information you are looking for, you will need to check with the hardware vendor, as SolarWinds does not manage the OIDs on the device.
- Adding MIB file of the Storage Array will not help in getting NPM to recognize the arrays. For further information on this, see Add MIBs to the SolarWinds MIB database.
