Manually Apply a Serv-U License
This article describes how to manually apply Serv-U licenses using the Serv-UID.txt if the Serv-U Management Console is not available.

To obtain a copy of the Serv-U license:
- Open a browser and go to SolarWinds Customer Portal.
- Log in using your SolarWinds Customer Account UserID and Password.
- Navigate to Licenses > Manage Licenses.
For Windows:
- Log in to the Serv-U server.
- Stop the Serv-U service
- Go to C:\ProgramData\RhinoSoft\Serv-U
- Create a backup of the Serv-U folder and save it on the desktop.
- Open the Serv-UID.txt file in Notepad.
- Clear the existing license key
- Paste the license key and save.
- Restart the Serv-U service
For Linux:
- Stop the Serv-U service
- Go to /usr/local/Serv-U
- Create a backup of the Serv-U folder and save it on another location.
- Edit the Serv-UID.txt file
- Clear the existing license key
- Paste the license key and save.
- Start the Serv-U service.
If the above does not work, apply the following:
- Remote into Serv-U Server
- Stop Serv-U Service from Services.msc
- Navigate to (Windows) C:\ProgramData\RhinoSoft\Serv-U or (Linux) /usr/local/Serv-U
- Create a backup of the Serv-UID.txt file
- Delete the Serv-UID.txt file
- Start Serv-U Service from Services.msc
- Go back to your Serv-U Console GUI and Reapply the Serv-U Gateway:
- Global Domain > Server Details > License Information > Scroll down > Enter License ID > Paste the License Key from SolarWinds Customer Portal on the Text Box under Registration ID > Save
