Duplicate nodes seen in Manage Nodes that are reflected in the SolarWinds Database

If you see duplicate entries of nodes in  Manage Nodes, with the same Node Name, same IP Address, and Node ID, it could either be because:

1. There are actual duplicate Nodes in the Nodes tables
   1. If this is the case, follow the steps in the Resolution
2. Duplicate Community Strings in the WebCommunityStrings table, with unique GUIDs.

Part 1 - Find Duplicate Nodes in the database

Run the following SQL query against your SolarWinds database, using either SQL Server Management Studio (recommended) or Database Manager:

Note: SolarWindsDatabaseName is the name of your SolarWinds database.

USE SolarWindsDatabaseName
Select IP_address, count(*)
FROM NODES
GROUP BY IP_address
Having COUNT (*)>1

Or

Right-click on the SolarWinds database and run the query:

Select IP_address, count(*)
FROM NODES
GROUP BY IP_address
Having COUNT (*)>1

The result will be a list of IP addresses that are each assigned to multiple monitored nodes. Use Node Management in the web console to delete duplicates by IP address.

Part 2 - Delete Duplicate Nodes from Manage Nodes

1. Click on Settings > Manage Nodes
2. Locate and select (click on check box) the duplicate node(s) 
3. Click DELETE
