Resolution

  1. Do a Manual Fail over to the HA server
  2. Disable HA globally
  3. Make sure to fix the DNS resolution concern in the environment
    • Assign the FQDN of the HA server to the IP of the previous Main poller to be decommissioned as required so all network devices pointing to the IP of the old Main poller to point to the HA server as the new Main poller.
  4. Stop all Orion services through Orion Service manager
  5. Truncate HA through Database Manager:
    • truncate table HA_FacilitiesInstances
      truncate table HA_PoolMemberInterfacesInfo
      truncate table HA_PoolMembers
      truncate table HA_Pools
      truncate table HA_ResourcesInstances
    • Check OrionServers table
      • Delete the current MainPoller and leave the HA server (to make it as the new Main Poller)
  6. Open Registry Editor
    • Go to HKLM/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Solarwinds/High Availability
    • Change the Install Type from MainPollerStandBy to MainPoller
    • restart the server
You should now have the previous HA server as the new Main Poller.

NOTE:
  • Can verify in HA Deployment page: There should no longer be an HA pool and only one Pool member active
  • All devices should report to the new Main Poller
  • Licenses should be assigned to the new Main Poller
