Overview

There are times when you may need to monitor switches (members) in a switch stack individually instead of as one switch stack.
When this is the case, please follow the steps below.

Disabling Switch Stack Monitoring

Steps

  1. Go to Settings > All Settings
  2. Under the NODE & GROUP MANAGEMENT section, click on "Manage Pollers
  3. You can either search for "Switch Stack" in the search bar or click on "SolarWinds Native Poller" under GROUP BY then scroll to Switch Stack
  4. Check the Switch Stack poller then click on "ASSIGN
  5. Find and Check the Switch Stack in question then click either "DISABLE POLLER" or toggle the "ON" to "OFF"

After you have disabled Switch Stack Monitoring, you can add each individual Switch as a Node in NPM through Manage Nodes or Network Discovery.

Make sure you are logged as admin to perform those changes.

If the web interface is not able to successfully remove switch stack monitoring, you will need to edit the "N.SwitchStack.SNMP.Cisco" column for the "pollers" table to disable the nodes switchstack polling directly.
