Overview
Please note, there is no additional cost to have a new connector developed for your device or system that isn't in the current list of supported SEM connectors. SolarWinds created and released approximately 883+ connectors since the LEM till the latest SEM 2021.2 releases.
This article describes what is needed from you to submit a "New Connector Request (NCR)" and "Feature Request" (FR) to SolarWinds Technical Support.

Resolution
The following is a list of the types of connectors we can create with a New Connector Request. You must provide log files in their final format for any of the following connector requests where it is applicable.
Note: All logs need to be in final format.
Syslog
- This is the preferred method and the easiest to create.
- Please set up the device to syslog to the SEM Appliance and allow us to pull the logs, or export them using the CMC interface or via using WinSCP from the SEM appliance.
- This is the best approach to ensure the data is read by the connector successfully.
- The following article covers exporting syslog from the SEM appliance using the exportsyslog command in the CMC interface - Export syslog using the CMC interface
*Be aware that multi-line log files are very hard for us to work with.
Windows Event (EVTX): We require:
- A copy of the .evtx file and the actual log path
- Additional screenshots. We may need XML data of specific events
- Log Rotation (how often or what size)
Flat File: We require:
- Sample log file and path of where the log file is stored
- Screenshots of where the log is stored
- Any information about the device or software logging to the file (name, version, etc.)
Database:
- We need all of the information about the database connection. These connectors are very complex to create.
API:
- We need any information that the vendor can provide. These connectors are very complex to create.
Other:
- We need as much information as possible if it does not fall into any of the previous categories: screenshots, log files, etc.
For a New Feature Request or Connector Request, please provide the following:
- Name of the product
- Version
- Manufacturer
- Model
- Application
- Operating system
- Anything that will help our developers to further investigate the request or issue
- Product manuals and product website URL information
Please provide a comparison showing how the product currently operates and what you would like to see added or improved (if this is currently part of the product).
Note: This information can be in a Word file, Open Office, or Libre Office document. Screenshots can also be helpful in showing the items that need to be altered and how to alter them to meet your needs in your SolarWinds environment.
SolarWinds cannot provide a set time frame for feature requests. All feature requests and new connector requests are added to our backlog for review and development.
See Submit a feature request for more information.
