Error "Ensure that SolarWinds Administration service is running on machine." during upgrade of the SolarWinds Platform

While attempting to upgrade the preflight check displays error preventing the process from completing.

Overview

This article provides the solution to the issue you may face after running the installer while upgrading the system and receiving the following error during the initial checks (preflight checks) performed:

Ensure that SolarWinds Administration service is running on machine.

Cause

The issue may be related to the internal crash of the SolarWinds Administration Service which will remain running but not operational (not responding to requests).

Resolution

To resolve the issue either restart SolarWinds Administration Service through Orion Service Manager (Start, Stop, or Restart Orion Services with the Orion Service Manager) or through Windows Service Manager or reboot the server.
If the restart didn't resolve, Try to run the Offline Installer via CMD and use -notests (e,g F:\SolarwindsOrionInstaller.exe -notests)
