AppInsight for Exchange widgets show Mailbox Size quotas that vary from values displayed in Microsoft Exchange

If using SAM AppInsight for Exchange, the Users By Mailbox Size and Users By Percent Mailbox Quota Used widgets may show "% Quota Used" values that vary from values displayed for individual mailboxes in Exchange. If necessary, you can adjust an Advance Configuration setting to change how SAM calculates mailbox quotas.

Overview

In the SAM AppInsight for Exchange resource for the Users By Mailbox Size may display an inaccurate amount for the % QUOTA USED. The amount in Microsoft Exchange and AppInsight for Exchange differ due to the selected value displayed by SAM. SAM uses the "Prohibit send and receive" quota to provide the last point when a user will stop receiving emails. The "Prohibit send" quota is a smaller value and if reached still allows users to receive emails.

To change how AppInsight for Exchange calculates quotas:

  1. Log into the Orion server as an administrator.
  2. Use the Orion Service Manager to stop all Orion services.
  3. Access the Advanced Configuration settings in the Orion Web Console.
  4. Scroll to the APM.BlackBox.Exchg.Collector.Settings section.
  5. Enable the QuotaUsageAgainstProhibitSend option.
  6. Scroll down and click Save.
  7. Restart Orion services.

SAM will recognize "Prohibit send" quota first.
