Unable to upgrade Serv-U to the latest version due to Serv-U.dll

This article describes a fix when getting an error about renaming the Serv-U.dll file while upgrading to the latest version.

Cause

  • Permission issue
  • Possible corruption of the Serv-U.dll file

Resolution

  • Make sure you have the proper permission to the Serv-U folder from C:\Program Files\RhinoSoft\

Refer to Running Serv-U under NETWORK SERVICE

  • Make sure you create a server snapshot before attempting the steps below. 

1. Stop the Serv-U service
2. Backup the RhinoSoft folder from C:\Program Files
3. Search for the file "Serv-U.dll" from C:\Program Files\RhinoSoft\Serv-U folder
4. Rename the file and save it
5. Make sure the installer/update file is unblocked (Right click the installer file > Properties)


6. Rerun the upgrade
