After upgrading to SolarWinds Platform 2024.1 broke the Custom Poller assigned in list resources

Creating a poller (Vendor) and assigning it list resources, after upgrading to Orion 2024.1, the web console does not display the information in the node details page/

Overview

After upgrading to SolarWinds Platform 2024.1, the node details stopped showing the software version and software image.

In the DeviceStudio.NodeDetails.PollersJobs_[xxxxx].log, the following error message may appear:

 

ERROR SolarWinds.DeviceStudio.NodeDetails.Pollers.NodeDetailsPoller - Error when polling <ip_address>.
System.ArgumentException: Unknown table MAC 

at SolarWinds.DeviceStudio.Framework.Polling.Output.DataSourceOutputConfig.GetTable[T](String tableName, Func`2 assign)
at SolarWinds.DeviceStudio.NodeDetails.Pollers.NodeDetailsPoller.DoPoll(IDataSourceOutputConfig polledData)

The device pollers created on the device studio are still showing the necessary details, but they are not showing on the web console.

Cause

This issue occurs due to a change in SolarWinds Platform 2024.1, which added a new MAC property for Device Studio Node Details pollers. This will allow the specification of a data source (OID) for MAC address collection.  However, the old poller definition states no MAC property leads to poller failure.

This applies to SolarWinds Platform 2024.1 only.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, please upgrade to SolarWinds Platform 2024.1.1.  If upgrade is not possible and must remain on SolarWinds Platform 2024.1, please use the workaround below.

  • Please make sure to recreate all device studio node details pollers from scratch and assign them to appropriate nodes.
  • All new pollers contain MAC property so that they will work without issues.
