Cause

Node was unmanaged

Resolution

When a node is unmanaged, the following occurs:

  • Polling jobs are suspended, so no further data is collected
  • Child objects (e.g. Application monitors, interfaces, volumes) assigned to the node are also set to unmanaged
  • By default, no further alert actions will execute on the unmanaged node
  • Depending on the reset conditions, existing active alerts may reset when the node is unmanaged or managed again
  • Alerts will not normally trigger on unmanaged nodes, as no data is being collected
  • However, alerts are not muted unless "Mute Alerts Now" is also selected, so alerts can trigger if the trigger condition is met

Allow alert actions to execute for unmanaged nodes:

  1. Go to Settings > All Settings > Polling Settings
  2. Enable 'ALLOW ALERT ACTIONS FOR UNMANAGED OBJECTS', then save the changes:

Alert actions will now execute for unmanaged nodes.
