This article addresses a common issue that occurs when you run and complete the SolarWinds Configuration Wizard. Error: Web Request for /Orion/Login.aspx failed - The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send.

Overview

When you complete the SolarWinds Configuration Wizard, the following error displays in the wizard:

Web Request for /Orion/Login.aspx failed - The underlying connection was closed: 
An unexpected error occurred on a send.

If you are running Microsoft^® Internet Explorer^® (IE), this error appears due to a hardened IE security policy, which was applied to your Microsoft Windows^® server hosting your SolarWinds products.

Resolution

You can ignore this error because it does not impact the functionality of your SolarWinds products.

If you can successfully access a web page using a browser from an alternate location (such as your workstation), no further intervention is required. To prevent this error from occurring again, enable Transport Layer Security 1.2 (TLS 1.2) in your IE configuration on the Windows server hosting your SolarWinds products.
