Web console is inaccessible due to Windows NET Runtime with message "The process was terminated due to an internal error in the >NET Runtime" after upgrading to SolarWinds Platform 2024.1

Overview

When upgrading a secured environment from an older version of the SolarWinds Platform to 2024.1, the upgrade and Configuration Wizard are completed successfully. However, whenever attempting to access the Web Console, the Application Pool in IIS immediately stops, and checking the Windows Event logs shows an error about .Net:

The process was terminated due to an internal error in the >NET Runtime at IP 73FFFFF1 (73FD0000) with exit code 80131506

Cause

Upon checking, these secured environments have any of the following KB patches recently installed in their Orion environment:

Resolution

Uninstall the following Microsoft updates listed above
- NOTE: A reboot may be required.
Reinstall the same Microsoft updates again.
