"The SQL Server may not be supported and could cause issues" Warning in Installer when upgrading to SolarWinds Platform 2025.1.1

This article provides information about the Warning Message for "The SQL Server may not be supported and could cause issues. Your SQL Server is not supported. You can continue with the installation but SolarWinds Platform may not work correctly. See system requirements for a list of supported SQL Servers." when upgrading to version 2025.1.1 for Microsoft Azure Databases.

Overview

When upgrading to version 2025.1.1, a Warning Message appears stating that "The SQL Server may not be supported and could cause issues. You can continue with the installation, but SolarWinds Platform may not work correctly. See system requirements for a list of supported SQL Servers."

This occurs when running the offline installer.

The My Deployment Page shows a warning for the MainPoller --> Platform database SQL Server 2025 does not meet the system requirements for SolarWinds Platform.

If you go the Web Console and check the Database Details, you will see that the SQL Server version is 2025.

Cause

This is a known issue, and SolarWinds Engineering is currently investigating SQL 2025 compatibility with the SolarWinds Platform.

Resolution

SQL Server 2025 is not supported on version 2025.1.1. Refer to the articles SolarWinds Platform requirements and Windows Server and SQL Server Support by SolarWinds Products (2023.3 and earlier).

Perform the steps below with the assistance of your DBA to make changes in Microsoft Azure. Refer to the article Update policy in Azure SQL Managed Instance.

a. Go to the Azure SQL page in the Azure portal and select + Create to open the Select SQL deployment option page.

b. In the SQL managed instances tile, select Single instance from the dropdown, and then select Create to open the Create Azure SQL Managed Instance page.

c. On the Create Azure SQL Managed Instance page, fill out details for your instance. On the Additional settings tab, under SQL engine updates, choose the SQL Server 2022 policy:

d. Confirm the designated policy under Update policy on the Review + create tab before you create your new instance.
