WMI connections failing in SAM

This article discusses how to resolve an issue where WMI-based monitors fail to connect to a target server.

Overview

WMI-based monitors fail to connect to target system.

Cause

The System hosting the SAM installation is not trusted.
This issue can occur if the target server does not recognize the Orion server as a trusted system.

Resolution

Log into the target server being monitor.
From the Start menu, navigate to Windows Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy.
Click Network List Manager Policies.
Double-click All Networks.
Set Network Location to "User can change Location".
Click OK.
