WMI Providers information

The SolarWinds WMI Providers provide additional management and inventory tools that are not native to WSUS. Without them, you can only use Patch Manager to interface with WSUS and not directly with any managed clients.

WMI Providers can be found on below path
C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Patch Manager\WMI Providers

EminentWareExtensionProvider
- Added additional WMI namespaces

ewSccm2007Provider
- Designed to get information from SCCM client. Additional namespace in WM

WUAProvider
- helps to install updates on a client and controls Windows Update Service on a client

Other components

SolarWinds client component
- Can be verified from Programs/Features

EminentWare Client Component Helper Utility
- placed together with WMI providers and other client tools in the same folder (installhelper.exe).

Remote Installation Service
-  this file placed in the Patch Manager Server folder (on the server computer)

On the first connection to the client computer, we send this file to the '%SystemRoot%\temp\EminentWare\Remote Installation Service.exe' path on the client computer.

We registered this executable file as a windows service and use it for remote provisioning and execution of EminentWare WMI Providers and EminentWare related tasks.

After installation, we remove this windows service and clean the temp folder ('%SystemRoot%\temp\EminentWare\').
