Cause

This issue occurs with VMs hosted on Hyper-V hosts if the range of MAC addresses for a host is overlapping with the range for another host. The issue may occur if Hyper-V uses dynamic MAC address allocation.

If a VM has the same IP address or MAC address as an existing node, it will be associated with that node, and not with the currently polled node, with the result that the VM will be mapped to the incorrect node.

Resolution

Modify the range of MAC addresses to avoid duplicate MAC addresses:
  1. Navigate to Hyper-V Manager > Virtual Network Manager > MAC Address Range.

  3. Restart the affected VM to make sure that it picks up the new, corrected MAC address.
