Cause

This is an issue with the monitored device & typically because one of the sensors is reporting a value outside of the typical threshold the device expects.

Resolution

Complete the following steps to verify whether SolarWinds is reporting the module status correctly.

  1. Log in to the CLI of the Cisco device.
  2. Enter the following command:

    show hw-module subslot 0/0 transceiver 0 status

In this example, the RX optical power is -40.0 dBm.

  3. To find out what the threshold is for this measurement, enter the following command:

show hw-module subslot 0/0 transceiver 0 idprom detail

In this example, the threshold is -24 dBm. Therefore, SolarWinds correctly displays the status as Critical.

If SolarWinds is displaying the information being reported by the device, engage with the device vendor to resolve any issues with the device.
