VMware vCenter servers display as Unknown in VMAN
This article describes an issue that causes all VMware vCenter servers to display as Unknown in SolarWinds Virtualization Manager (VMan).

Overview
When you poll for all VMware vCenter® servers on an Additional Polling Engine (APE), the procedure fails with following message in the VIM Business Layer:
2017-11-28 12:19:46,769 [45] ERROR SolarWinds.VIM.BusinessLayer.Polling.VMwareProbeResultsProcessorBase - Error sending probe job results to main BL. SolarWinds.ApiProxyFactory.TransientApiProxyException: Exception of type 'SolarWinds.ApiProxyFactory.TransientApiProxyException' was thrown. ---> System.ServiceModel.EndpointNotFoundException: No DNS entries exist for host main.orion.server. ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No such host is known at System.Net.Dns.GetAddrInfo(String name)

- Configure the correct DNS entries in Microsoft® Active Directory
®or the hosts files.
- You must able to access the vCenter MOB from the affected poller or main poller.
