Cause

This issue occurs due to a license calculation issue with free icmp nodes.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, please upgrade to SolarWinds Platform 2024.1.1 and above.  If an upgrade is not possible, perform the following steps below:

If the customer is trying to add vCenter or ESXi servers:

  1. Add vCenter or ESXi nodes as ICMP via Settings-> Manage nodes → Add node → Add vCenter or ESXi as ICMP first

  2. Go to node details → Find added ICMP node → Edit node

  3. In the middle of the page, there is a section VMware polling settings → tick Poll for VMware

  4. Enter the credentials

  5. Click Submit

If the customer is trying to add Hyper-V user can do the following:

  1. Add Hyper-V nodes as ICMP via Settings-> Manage nodes → Add node → Add Hyper-V as ICMP first

  2. Go to Hyper-V node details → Edit node

  3. Select WMI and ICMP polling method

  4. Enter the credentials

  5. Go to Hyper-V node details → List Resources

  6. Select Hyper-V and everything user is interested into

  7. Wait for poll you have your Hyper-V added.
