Using the NCM Connection Tester

Overview

This article provides instructions on how to use the Connection Tester tool as an alternative to PuTTY and other clients. This free Kiwi Syslog Server Tool is bundled with certain versions of NCM and is located in the installation folder of NCM.

Note: The free KiwiSyslogTool was removed in NCM 2020.2.x and later versions. Earlier installations that upgrade can still continue to have the tool as it was "grandfathered".

Network Configuration Manager

Resolution

Log in to the Orion Platform server.
Go to the folder location.
Note: The default location is C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\NCM\Tools
Execute ConnectionTester.exe
Supply the necessary credentials when connecting to the device.
Click Connect.
Verify the information on the Connection Log.
