Use report limitations on Orion Reports

Report limitations allow us to limit access to reports. This article includes information on configuring report limitations for 2013.1.x and higher.

• If you are running SolarWinds Orion Platform versions 2012.2.X or older, reports are stored in a folder on the primary SolarWinds server (default location C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion\Reports). User access is limited by placing reports into sub-folders and restricting user access to the filesystem.

• If you are running SolarWinds Orion Platform version 2013.1.X or higher, reports are stored in the SolarWinds database, and both users and reports may be assigned a report limitation category. Users may only see reports that are in the same report limitation category. Report limitation categories may be created or selected on the Properties view of the Add Report page if web-based reporting is enabled. A user's report limitation category is assigned on the user's account settings page.

Note: This article applies to all SolarWinds Orion products using SolarWinds Orion Platform version 2013.1.X and higher.
