Overview

To test your Kiwi Syslog setup, you can use Kiwi SyslogGen. This is an application that allows user to send syslog messages to a specific IP address.

Resolution

To test Kiwi Syslog Daemon using Kiwi SyslogGen, follow the steps below: 

  1. Install Kiwi SyslogGen on the same system where Kiwi Syslog Daemon is installed.
  2. Send a test message by clicking File and then Send test message to localhost. 
  3. If you successfully receive the syslog message that were sent locally, try installing Kiwi SyslogGen in another remote system to verify if it can receive messages from another location. 
    • Note: If messages are unable to be sent or user could not receive any information, it could mean that a software firewall or an anti-virus program is blocking the syslog traffic. It is recommended that you check for either of these cases and add any exceptions as required before starting the test again.
