-
First, confirm the LEM version. So from your normal screen below.
-
cmc > manager > viewsysinfo.
-
Now confirm your upgrade path. See Upgrade SEM from prior versions.
Knowing your upgrade path, you can now download the appropriate version. Log into your customer portal and download the relevant files. In my case for LEM 6.3.1 HF7 it will be this file.
-
You should now have an iso file that looks like this.
-
This needs to be placed on a windows share (SMBv1 enabled) and accessible to all.
-
Now extract the iso.
-
After extraction, you should have two files, TriGeo and Upgrade. The contents of Upgrade is the only concern.
For neatness, remove the ISO from the folder. You should just have TriGeo and Upgrade folders in place.
Now move to the LEM command line.
-
At the cmc > prompt, type upgrade.
You will need to follow the prompts.
Use the IP address of the share, and the Administrator. This is the most successful method as it rules out DNS and AD issues.

-
The upgrade from LEM 6.3.1 HF4+ to LEM 6.4 is complete.
After it's complete, the VM will restart. Log in as cmc user and confirm the version.
At the cmc > prompt, type manager > viewsysinfo.
-
You can now begin the 6.4 to 6.5 upgrade. Return to your customer portal and download the following:
-
Move the download file to the Share, and remove the previous folders, Trigeo and Upgrade from it. Its important to have nothing else in the folder. At this point you no longer need SMBv1 enabled, LEM 6.4 is SMBv2 and v2 compatible.
Uncompress the zip file.
-
Navigate the to the ISO file.
-
For neatness move the ISO back two folder to the original extraction path.
-
Remove the SolarWinds-LEM-v6.5.0-Upgrade folder.
Again just make sure the upgrade file is the only file in the upgrade folder.
-
Now move over to the cmc command line and upgrade like before.
At the cmc > prompt, type upgrade.
Choose network and then point straight back to the folder the iso file is in from the above screen shot.
-
Again verify the version by going to cmc > manager > viewsysinfo.
The system is now updated.
