Universal Device Poller resource displayed in Orion Web Console shows "2 value(s)" (or more) instead of the expected result of the OID. When viewing the resource after configuring the Web Display in the Universal Device Poller application, you may find that your resource in the appropriate view shows a "# value(s)". When configuring the Universal Device Poller, you have selected an OID closer to the root than the leaf level.

Overview

When viewing the resource after configuring the Web Display in the Universal Device Poller application, you may find that your resource in the appropriate view shows a "# value(s)".

Cause

When configuring the Universal Device Poller, you have selected an OID closer to the root than the leaf level.  For instance, when polling OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.476.1.42.3.4.1.2.3.1.3, you receive a "5 value(s)" message in the table.

Resolution

  1. If in fact you have verified that the OID is not supposed to be a table but a single value, you would simply need to change the OID to the proper leaf OID within, such as:

    1.3.6.1.4.1.476.1.42.3.4.1.2.3.1.3.2

    1.3.6.1.4.1.476.1.42.3.4.1.2.3.1.3.3

    and so on.

  2. To view this directly, you can run an SNMPWalk.exe to the device from C:\Program Files (x86)\Solarwinds\Orion\ to the desired OID to see what the raw output from the device is.

     

    Note: In some cases, an OID will still contain further OIDs, however they are designed to show up as a table using a GET TABLE request.  In this case, keep the designated OID and then change the Universal Device Poller method to GET TABLE instead of GET.  Further information can be found in this article .
