How to uninstall a SolarWinds Agent in the Solarwinds Platform

Resolution

Resolution 1: Remove agents from Windows devices with a GUI

  1. Open the Control Panel.
  2. Go to Program and Features.
  3. Locate the SolarWinds agent and select Uninstall option to remove the SolarWinds agent.

NOTE: Optionally, you can remove an agent by changing the polling method. After changing the polling method, an option to remove the existing agent will show.


Resolution 2: Remove agents from Windows devices without a GUI (Server Core)

  1. Launch an administrator command prompt.

    • Call the SolarWinds Agent Service program with the '-uninstall' flag:

      "C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Agent\SolarWinds.Agent.Service.exe" -uninstall

      If the SolarWinds Agent is installed in a different directory, alter the file path as needed.

To reinstall agents

Agents can be reinstalled using one of two options:

  • Deploy agents via the Manage Agents page in the SolarWinds Platform Web Console 
  • Manually download and install the agent
