Unable to send out email via Office 365 using OAuth in WHD 12.8.4 and WHD 12.8.5

If an outgoing mail account for Office 365 in WHD Versions 12.8.4 and 12.8.5 is configured to use the authentication Type OAuth, the outgoing email fails with an error: Graph API email send failed: {"error":{"code":"ErrorAccessDenied","message":"Access is denied. Check credentials and try again."}}

Overview

In WHD 12.8.4 and WHD 12.8.5, an Office 365 outgoing mail account using authentication type - OAuth fails to send emails and throws the error below in both Email History and the log, even though the account is successfully authorized.

Error in Email History

ERROR whd.helpdesk.com.macsdesign.whd.util - Could not send E-Mail to (User <user@domain.com>) due to the following error:
javax.mail.MessagingException: Graph API email send failed: {"error":{"code":"ErrorAccessDenied","message":"Access is denied. Check credentials and try again."}}

Error in Logs

ERROR whd.helpdesk.com.macsdesign.whd.util - Error creating payload
javax.mail.MessagingException: Graph API email send failed: domain not permitted for email: User <user@domain.com>

Cause

This is a known issue in WHD 12.8.4, and 12.8.5. This error occurs if the outgoing mail account has any 'Accepted Domains' defined.

Resolution

This issue is now fixed in WHD 12.8.6. Consider upgrading your environment. For more information, please see the release notes: WHD 12.8.6 release notes
