Overview

There are recent incidents in which users were unable to save any host on their Dameware Mini Remote Control(DMRC)'s Saved Host List.
Even importing the Saved Host File does not work on this issue.
Somehow, the right to save a host using the user account was not working.
This is usual for users who upgraded from Dameware version 12.1 to 12.2 and above.

Resolution

  • Option 1: Run the Dameware Mini Remote Control(DMRC) using a different account that has the same Administrative rights.
  1. Hold CTRL+SHIFT, then right-click MRC/DRS
  2. Select Run as Different User
  3. Input User Credential
  4. Attempt saving in the Host List
  • Option 2: Create a new User Profile
Please be careful in deleting files and make sure to back up all of your user folders first.
  1. Move or Back-up all files and documents from my C:\User\ folder
  2. Log into another admin account (can be local or domain)
  3. Run the "systempropertiesadvanced"  in the Windows Run command (Win + R)
  4. Click the "Settings" under the "User Profiles" on the "Advanced" tab of System Properties Windows
  5. Find the user profile you want to delete and delete it.
  6. Log off and Log into your account so it will recreate a new profile.
Another way of creating a new profile, if you have enough disk memory and have an administrative right:
  1. Go to "C:\Users"
  2. Rename the current user folder to "CurrentUserFolder.old"
  3. Log-out from the PC
  4. Log in using the same account
  5. This will create a new user profile and all of the files from your previous profile is saved in C:\Users\CurrentUserFolder.old
  • Option 3: Re-installing the Dameware on your machine
  1. Download the Dameware Installers from the Customer Portal.
  2. Uninstall the Dameware application from the Windows Uninstall Program or Control Panel.
  3. Delete Files from the Registry and Program Folders
  4. Restart the machine.
  5. Install the current version of Dameware.
  6. Install the latest version of Dameware to upgrade the previously installed version.
  7. Restart the machine.
  8. Check if you would be able to save anything on the Saved Host list or try to import.
  9. If the issue is still the same, try to run MRC as administrator (Shift + Right-Click + Select Run as and select different Account).
