Overview

You set up your Patch Manager in an SCCM deployment by:

  • Installing SCCM
  • Installing Patch Manager
  • Configuring the SCCM server with WSUS
  • Verifying that the deployment mechanism is using SCCM Software Update Groups  (© 2017 Microsoft Corporation, available at https://support.microsoft.com, obtained on 15 November 2018) instead of WSUS groups
  • Publishing third-party packages from Patch Manager to the SCCM server
  • Verifying that you can view the packages in Software Updates.

After performing these tasks, you cannot push the software updates to the SCCM Software update group. When this issue occurs, the following error displays:

Failed to download content id  xxxxxxx. Error: There was an error downloading the software update (404).
