Overview

This article describes the scenario when SNMP nodes cannot be polled after the migration of Orion to a new server with a new IP address.
Prior to the Orion server migration, the devices were polled correctly. After migrating Orion to a new server with new IP address the nodes cannot be polled via SNMP. Also, testing SNMP credentials from the Node Properties page fails with the error: Test Failed

Product section

Orion Platform

Cause

The issue is due to the fact that there are restrictions on the polled nodes where they only accept SNMP requests from specific IP addresses or subnets.

Resolution

  • Confirm the devices are configured to accept SNMP requests from the new Orion IP address and that the new Orion server has read access to the community being used.
  • Validate with SNMPWalk.exe
