Unable to login to the Web Console using a domain account in SolarWinds Platform 2018.x and UP
This article provides information on the issue where users are unable to log in using domain credentials to the SolarWinds Platform Web Console. There are no obvious errors or issues with the accounts.

Overview
This issue can present as domain user accounts suddenly stop authenticating in the SolarWinds Platform and this will persist until someone makes a change to either the Auth Type or points SolarWinds Platform at a different DC. This will happen even if there are no obvious errors or issues with the accounts.
The following error is seen in the OrionWeb.log file at C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Logs\Orion:

Cause
The issue is caused when the incorrect authentication type is selected when adding LDAP settings to the SolarWinds Platform Web Console or cached data on the web browser.
Resolution
- Log in to the Web Console using a local SolarWinds Platform account (non-domain account).
- Click Settings > All Settings > Advanced AD Settings.
- Change the Authentication Type to the correct method in order to Authenticate against the LDAP server.
