Overview
Serv-U has a feature to require users to change passwords. You can enable this under User Properties. If enabled, the user will be prompted to change their password when they next log in.
In this issue, a local domain user was created under Password encryption mode was set to Simple two-way encryption (less secure), the Serv-U is not allowing the new user to change the password at the next login. Getting error messages: "Old Password is incorrect." even if the password is correct.
Product section
Cause
Bug in Serv-U product.
Resolution
Perform the workaround below:
1. Create a backup copy of Serv-U.Archive file
These files are either stored in:
a. Windows Vista/7/8, Server 2008/2012 - C:\ProgramData\RhinoSoft\Serv-U (ProgramData Folder is Hidden in Windows by default)
b. Windows 2000/XP, Server 2000/2003 - C:\Program Files\RhinoSoft\Serv-U
2. Go to Domain>Limits&Settings>Limits
Limit Type: Password
3. Change the Password encryption mode to One-way encryption (more secure).
4. Save.
Note: The new user created under this Password encryption mode can change the password without any issues at the next login
