Overview

For users to connect to or gain access to files and folders outside of their own home directory, you need to define a virtual path. A virtual path defines a method of mapping an existing directory to another location on the system to make it visible within a user's accessible directory structure.

 

You can map it to a local location on the server or to a network share/UNC path, as long as you have configured a service account that has permission to the shared directory.

 

In this issue, the configured virtual paths are not visible in the user’s home directory upon login.

The following criteria should be configured:

 

  1. The Serv-U service account must be running a domain service account that has permission to the shared directory.
    • Note: The default service account of Serv-U is Network Service, which only allows access to the Serv-U configuration on the local machine
  2. Make sure that the network shared folder/directory is accessible from the Serv-U Server, access using the UNC path
