Unable to change Config Archive location, getting the error: Invalid config archive directory

The following error is received when updating the Config Archive Directory under NCM Settings > Configs and updating the Config Archive Directory when creating an Export Config Job under ADD JOB SPECIFIC DETAILS. Invalid config archive directory.

Overview

The following error is received when updating the Config Archive Directory under NCM Settings > Configs and updating the Config Archive Directory when creating an Export Config Job under ADD JOB SPECIFIC DETAILS.

Invalid config archive directory.

Cause

Scenario 1: This is a known issue that is been fixed on NCM 2020.2.1 Hotfix 1.

Scenario 2: There are Network Share credentials set in NCM. NCM will use the Network Share credentials to attempt to validate the Config Archive folder. If the credentials does not have permissions, or it does not exists, it will fail to validate.

Resolution

Scenario 1:
1. Go to [Settings > All Settings > Manage Accounts]
2. Edit your account
3. Under Network Configuration Manager Settings > NCM role, set your account to Administrator.

Scenario 2:
1. [Settings > All Settings > NCM Settings > Advanced Settings]
2. Look under the section "Use custom credentials to give NCM write access" under "Network Share Settings"


3. Ensure that the credentials is able to access the destination that the Config Archive folder is validated against; or
4. If the credentials does not exist, uncheck the checkbox "Use custom credentials to give NCM write access".
5. Submit, and confirm if the Config Archive folder can be validated.


Note: If the user recently changed the password on  Settings > All Settings > NCM Settings > Advanced Settings > Network Share Settings. Restart all Polling Engines then Enter the credentials again if you are getting an Incorrect Credentials error.
