Overview

For all Serv-U Linux installations. the Serv-U Management Console can be accessed through port 8080 by default. The server administrator should ensure that port 8080 is accepting inbound traffic through the server or network firewall.

Product section

Serv-U Managed File Transfer & Serv-U FTP Server

Cause

Possible causes:
  • Port 8080 is not allowed for inbound connections in the server or network firewall
  • The Serv-U license used is expired

Resolution

Troubleshoot port issue:
  • To verify if port 8080 is accepting connections, run a telnet test to the Serv-U server IP address through port 8080. If this fails and it is confirmed that the Serv-U service is listening on port 8080, then it is a firewall problem.
  • Advise the Serv-U administrator to allow port 8080 for inbound connections in the server or network firewall.
  • If this does not work, have the administrator disable the whole server firewall

Troubleshoot license issue:
  • View the Serv-U-StartupLog.txt logs found inside /usr/local/Serv-U folder
  • Make sure there is no entry that shows: "LICENSE: Running beyond trial period.  Serv-U will no longer accept connections."
  • If the log shows an expired license, edit the /usr/local/Serv-U/Serv-UID.txt file and enter the correct Serv-U license
  • Restart the Serv-U service
