URL redirection is not working in the web console

If you have configured your Orion server with a dedicated network interface (NIC) for your Orion website (IIS), providing links to web console views using your Orion server name may not work as expected.

If you have configured your Orion server with a committed interface (NIC) for the Orion website, offering links to web console views can also no longer work as expected.

Cause

The Web console is not using the fully-qualified domain name of the Orion server. By default, the Orion polling engine is given the NetBIOS name of the server where Orion is installed. 

Resolution

Ensure that your Web console uses the fully-qualified domain name for your Orion server.

Note: If you run the Configuration Wizard - typically during any upgrade, including version upgrades, service packs, service releases, and repairs - you will need to repeat the following procedure to maintain the correct Orion server name.
 

  1. Click Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Database Manager.
  2. If your Orion database is not listed in the left pane, complete the following steps:
    1. Click Add Orion Server.
  3. Expand your SQL Server and Orion database in the left pane.
  4. Right-click the Websites table, and then click Query Table.
  5. Select Enable table editing, and then click Execute Query.
  6. Edit the ServerName field with the fully-qualified domain name of your Orion server and press Enter.
  7. Execute Query again to ensure the change has been committed to the database.
  8. Restart all Orion Services for the changes to take effect. See Start and stop Orion services.
