Overview

Upon upgrading your Orion deployment, the user is given the choice to upgrade to the new Orion Log Manager. The older legacy system used standalone application GUI's on the Orion polling engines. These could only be accessed and rules could only be programed through these interfaces. These are referred to as Syslog View and Trap Viewer. the new Orion Log Manager uses the web interface to create and manage log rules and filters.

Resolution

There is no supported method to automate a transfer of the old legacy platform to the new system. This will be a manual process.

Upon upgrading the Log Manager to the new system, you may realize that the Syslog and Trap viewers are suddenly missing from the Start menu of the polling engine, and you cannot view the old rules and filters that were created. This is because the legacy programs were removed from the start menu. They still remain in the installation directory.
\\InstallationPath\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\SyslogViewer.exe
\\InstallationPath\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\TrapViewer.exe

You may open these programs and view previously created rules so you may manually transfer these filters to the new web-oriented Log Manager.
