Third-party software required to monitor Hardware Health and collect Asset Inventory information in SAM
To support the Hardware Health monitoring and Asset Inventory features in SolarWinds SAM, make sure nodes meet requirements, install agent software from hardware vendors of supported devices, and run Discovery to detect agent software and enable polling automatically.

Overview
As described in the Manage Asset Inventory in SAM, Asset Inventory data collection is automatically enabled during Discovery for nodes that meet requirements and host third-party agent software from hardware vendors. You can also enable it for individual nodes. Asset Inventory polling occurs once daily by default, but you can configure the interval to suit your needs.
When Asset Inventory polling is enabled for a node, Hardware Health monitoring is also enabled, although either feature can be used independently.

IBM
In addition to Asset Inventory data, SAM can monitor the warranty status of your physical servers by periodically checking the status of each server's warranty against the following Dell, HP, and IBM warranty validation servers.
- Dell: https://api.dell.com/support/assetinfo/v4/getassetwarranty/
- HP: http://h20565.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/wc/public/home
- IBM: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/systemxwarrantylookup
Note: Dell controls when and how often warranty information can be polled for a given host, based on how soon the server is due to expire. Dell OpenManage and SAM work together to gather warrant data from https://api.dell.com/support/assetinfo/v4/getassetwarranty/; you cannot access that link directory in a web browser.
To display warranty data in SAM, click My Dashboards > Applications > SAM Summary and scroll down to the Server Warranty Summary widget, as shown here.
