Third party packages do not display in the SCCM Console
This article addresses an issue that prevents packages published in SCCM from displaying in the SCCM Console.

To view third-party packages that you published to SCCM, create a separate search folder or search for each vendor as you publish their packages.
3rd Party Updates view folder from SCCM console
The SCCM console navigation pane should include the 3rd Party Updates directory, as shown below.
If SCCM and Patch Manager are installed correctly, this directory should display in the SCCM navigation pane. If the 3rd Party Updates directory does not display in the navigation pane, the Patch Manager and SCCM consoles were not installed correctly.
To install the Patch Manager Admin Console:
- Log in to the SolarWinds Customer Portal.
- Download Patch Manager full package (with SQL).
- Run the installer on machine where SCCM console is already installed
- When prompted, select the Console only option (2)
- Complete the installation wizard.

SCCM 2007
To create a search folder for packages from a third party vendor in SCCM 2007:
- Verify that a Patch Manager instance is installed in SCCM.
- In the SCCM console navigation pane, expand Site Database > Computer Management > Software Updates > Update Repository.
- Right-click Search Folders and select New Search Folder.
The system displays the Search Folder Criteria window. - In the Step 1 field, select Vendor.
- In the Step 2 field, click the underlined value, and then select the vendor for which you want to create the search folder.
- In the Step 3 field, select Search all folders under this feature.
- In the Step 4 field, enter a name for the search folder. For example, enter the name of the vendor you selected in Step 2.
- Click OK.
The system adds a search folder for your selected vendor, which contains all updates published to the SCCM server for that vendor.
SCCM 2012, 1702 and 1710
To create a new search for packages from a third-party vendor in SCCM 2012 and 1702:
- Verify that a Patch Manager instance is installed in SCCM.
- In the navigation pane, click Software Library.
- In the navigation pane, expand Overview > Software Updates and select All Software Updates.
- Click Add Criteria, select Vendor, and click Add.
- In the toolbar next to AND Vendor, click the underlined value and select the vendor.
- Click Search.
The system should returns a list of the updates from your selected vendor.
If the search does not return the list of updates, make sure in Synchronization settings -> classifications tab "Tools" is subscribed to sync with this Vendor and ensure synch is completed successfully. - Save your search criteria.
SCCM 2103 and 2111 with Patch Manager 2022.2 or earlier
To display the 3rd Party Updates directory in the SCCM console for SCCM 2103 and 2111 with Patch Manager 2022.2 or earlier:
- Log in to SCCM as an administrator.
- In the left menu, click Administration > Site Configuration > Sites.
- Select the primary site.
- In the toolbar, click Hierarchy Settings.
- Uncheck the following option: Only allow console extension that are approved for the hierarchy
- Click OK.
- Restart SCCM.
SCCM 2103 and 2111 with Patch Manager 2022.3
To display the 3rd Party Updates directory in the SCCM console for SCCM 2103 and 2111 with Patch Manager 2022.3:- Verify that a Patch Manager instance is installed on the SCCM server.
- Log in to SCCM as an administrator.
- In the navigation pane, click Administration, expand Updates and Servicing, and select Console Extensions.
- In the toolbar, click Import Console Extension.
- In the Import Custom Console Extension Wizard, click Browse.
- Navigate to:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Patch Manager\Server\Sccm Extension
- Double-click SolarWinds.cab to open the Import Custom Console Extension Wizard.
- In the Select screen, click Next.
- In the Summary screen, click Next. The CAB file is imported into SCCM.
- In the Completion screen, ensure that the import was successful.
- Review the import details, and then click Close.
- In the toolbar, click Approve Installation.
- In the Console Extensions list, select Patch manager Extension.
- In the toolbar, click Approve Installation.
- When prompted, click Yes to approve the extension.
- In the Console Extensions List, select Patch Manager Extension.
- In the toolbar, click Install.
- When prompted, click OK to continue. Configuration Manager installs the console extension.
- Click Close to restart the Configuration Manager console.
- In the navigation pane, click Software Library.
- Verify that the 3rd Party Updates directory displays in the Overview directory.
Include console extensions that are approved for SCCM
If your organization requires console extensions that are approved for SCCM, perform the following steps:- In the Overview directory, maximize Site Configuration and select Sites.
- In the Sites list, select the primary site.
- In the toolbar, click Hierarchy Settings.
- Select the following checkbox:
- Only allow console extensions that are approved for the hierarchy
- Click OK. SCCM restarts, and the selection is enabled.
