The service is not found on the Orion Server 2017.3 template. Cannot find Syslog or Trap service, cannot find the Information service template. Orion server template. The service is stopped or disabled or is not installed on the target machine. Service was not found.

Overview

Receiving the following message when monitoring the Main Polling Engine with the Orion Server 2017.3 template.

The service is stopped or disabled or is not installed on the target machine. Service was not found.

Cause

Several reasons
1) Syslog and Trap services may be replaced by the Orion Log Manager service.starting with Platform version 2019.4
2) The Information service v1 is deprecated in 2020.2 release. 

Resolution

The Orion server template was updated in SAM 2020.2. It is replaced with 3 templates that collect more accurate information for the later releases of Orion.

  • Orion Server 2020.2 - Main Polling Engine
You may apply these to the appropriate server type. 

Information service V1 is no longer installed on any polling engines so this should no longer be included in the template.
