Error in SQL Sentry "The current version of the native library (1.5) does not support the original or minimum version of the ".NET Framework NGEN v4.0.30319" task (1.6/1.6). "

This is a common error to see in SQL Sentry sometimes after an upgrade in the monitored target(s), a user may start receiving continuous Event History Monitor alerts from the Windows Task Scheduler.

SQL Sentry (SQLS)

Cause

The Monitoring Service is on an older Windows version, and the target is on a newer version. The Monitoring Service host machine cannot collect the data from the Task Manager on the newer machine.

Resolution

There are three options to address this.

Option 1
Place the Monitoring Service on another machine that matches your target's Windows version.

Option 2
Stop collecting the Task Manager data for the affected target.

Option 3
Edit or delete the 'Event History Monitor: Error' condition. Make sure to modify this condition (under Failsafe Conditions) at the global level (All Targets).
