This article describes what to do if you receive the following message when attempting to generate an offline license file. UMID stands for Unique Machine ID.

Cause

  • For DPA Licenses, the cause for this error is using a Category 1 UMID on a Category 2 license, or vice versa.
  • For the Dameware license, the cause for this error is:
    1. The most common mistake with offline activation of DameWare is attempting to register a DameWare Remote Support (DRS) with a DameWare Mini Remote Control (DMRC) license key / UMID.
    2. If you have the Centralized license installed, but you use a UMID for the standalone license.

FOR DPA LICENSES

Ensure you are pulling the correct UMID for the category of license you own.  There are 3 different categories of DPA licenses

  • Database Performance Analyzer - Category1 - Oracle EE or ASE or DB2
  • Database Performance Analyzer - Category2 - MSSQL or MySQL or OracleSE or Express
  • Database Performance Analyzer – VM Option

Note:

DPA does not use the SolarWinds License Manager tool as it has its own internal License Manager.


For DPA License Manager Page:
1. Open the SolarWinds DPA Web Client in your browser.
2. On the Home page, click License Allocation and then click License Manager.

 

FOR DAMEWARE LICENSES
Make sure to run the Licensor as an admin to reach the registry:

  1. For Stand-alone Dameware Remmote Support - DRS License, active the license using this Licensor: C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\DameWare Remote Support\SolarWinds.DRS.Licensor.exe
  2. For Stand-alone Dameware Mini Remote Control - DMRC Licences, active the license using this Licensor: C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Dameware Mini Remote Control x64\SolarWinds.MRC.Licensor.exe
  3. For Centralized installation like Dameware Mini Remote Control Centralized - DMRCC and Dameware Remmote Support Centralized - DRSC active the license using this Licensor: C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Dameware Central Server\SolarWinds.DameWare.Licensor.exe

***The DRS is a package for DRS and DMRC. Installing DRS will install DMRC altogether, and no need to activate the DMRC separately. Only customers who purchase DMRC ONLY need a separate DMRC license***
