NCM error: Test failed. Connection refused by x.x.x.x

Overview

The Network Configuration Manager (NCM) connection profile test fails even if the customer username and password were correct. The error Test failed. Connection refused by x.x.x.x

Cause

This issue is caused by a corrupted profile or incorrect connection profile setting.

Resolution

when performing a test in Connection Profile under Edit Settings view of an NCM node.  You encounter the Test Failed. Connection Refused by x.x.x.x error . When you click Login Details, you notice that a different Connection Profile is assigned it will show connection profile SSH Cisco.
 




To resolve this issue, take the following steps:

1. Check what connection profile customers using to execute scripts, SSH or Telnet select the correct one.

2. If all connection profile sitting are correct follow these steps to recreate a new Connection Profile by clicking Orion Web Console > SETTINGS > All Settings > NCM Settings > Connection Profiles.

3. Delete the old (corrupted) Connection Profile.

Another Resolution is to use a working Connection Profile.
Ask user to test a working Credential by accessing the device from Solarwinds Server via Putty
If the credential is not yet in the selection of NCM connection profiles, please add it by following the link to Step 2 above.
