Overview

When installing or upgrading Orion Platform products, you receive the following message:
Error: Install a supported version of Microsoft SQL Server

 

Environment 

Orion Platform products installed with the following versions of the SQL server:

  • SQL Server 2012
  • SQL Server 2008
  • SQL Server 2005
  • SQL Server 2000

Cause

Supported SQL Server versions depend on the version of Orion Platform products you are deploying:

  • Orion Platform products do not support SQL 2000 or SQL 2005.
  • Orion Platform 2018.4 is no longer compatible with Microsoft SQL Server 2012.

Resolution

Supported versions of SQL Server depend on the Orion Platform version you are using. See Windows Server 2012, 2016, and 2019 and SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017 Support for a comprehensive, version-based list of SQL servers supported by your Orion Platform products.

 

Install or upgrade  your deployment to a supported version of SQL Server:

 

Orion Platform 2018.4 supports the following servers: 

  • SQL Server 2017
  • SQL Server 2016, 2016 SP1, 2016 SP2
  • SQL Server 2014, 2014 SP1, 2014 SP2

 

Orion Platform 2018.2 supports the following versions of SQL Server:

  • SQL 2017
  • SQL 2016, 2016 SP1
  • SQL 2014, 2014 SP1, 2014 SP2
  • SQL 2012, 2012 SP1, 2012 SP2, 2012 SP3, 2012 SP4

 

Orion Platform 2017.3 supports the following versions of SQL Server:

  • SQL 2017
  • SQL 2016, 2016 SP1
  • SQL 2014, 2014 SP1, 2014 SP2
  • SQL 2012, 2012 SP1, 2012 SP2, 2012 SP3
