The need to store a large number of syslog, traps or logs for auditing for a period of more than one year, and potentially using that data for reporting at a later date.
The Network Performance Monitor module is not meant for long term storage of syslog, traps, or logs.
The default storage for syslog and traps is 7 days. The primary functionality of NPM is to be able to receive traps and syslogs for alerting, troubleshooting and reporting purposes within that time frame.
